We are not speculators in domain names, and do not purchase a domain name unless we have specific plans to develop it.

The boss, however, has "eyes bigger than his stomach". Some of our undeveloped domains will appear in weeks or months; others will be sitting here for years before we get around to using them.

We don't like being a dog in the manger about domain names. If you really want a domain name we control, make us an offer. As a general rule, we would figure that a domain name is worth $10,000 to $100,000 if we've done a lot of work to develop it, worth $1,000 to $10,000 if we expect to be developing it within a year, and $100 to $1,000 if it's a longer-range project.

There are several companies around that will appraise a domain name. They look at the root domain (.COM is best), the length of the domain name (shorter is better), the likelyhood that people will spell it right (few people are going to spell hassenpfeffer.com correctly), etc. However, the true value of something is what a buyer is willing to pay, and a seller is willing to accept, neither being forced to make a deal - which means those appraisal services are worth about as much as John Nance Garner valued the vice-presidency of the United States: he said it was worth a bucket of warm, uh, well, we'll let you google. (It is sometimes reported as a bucket of warm spit, but that's not what Garner actually said.)

In any case, figure out what it's worth to you, and make an offer. We'll get back to you promptly.
